WTa Target Product Details

Tantalum-Tungsten alloy is an alloy composed of tungsten (W) and tantalum (Ta), with properties dependent on the tungsten-to-tantalum ratio. It combines the high melting point, high hardness, and good electrical conductivity of tungsten with the excellent corrosion resistance and good ductility of tantalum.  These characteristics make it suitable for a wide range of high-technology applications.

- Physical Properties: Tantalum-Tungsten alloys possess high melting points (typically exceeding 3000°C, depending on composition), high density, high hardness, and good wear resistance.  Precise physical properties such as melting point, hardness, and density vary with the tungsten-tantalum ratio. They typically exhibit a grayish-white metallic luster.

- Chemical Properties: Tantalum-Tungsten alloys exhibit excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in acidic environments. However, they may be susceptible to corrosion in strongly alkaline environments.  Corrosion resistance is also composition-dependent. At high temperatures, they may react with some reactive gases.

- Mechanical Properties: The mechanical properties, such as strength and toughness, depend on the alloy composition and fabrication process.  By adjusting the tungsten-tantalum ratio, alloys with varying strength and toughness can be obtained to meet different application requirements.

- Electrical Properties: Tantalum-Tungsten alloys demonstrate good electrical conductivity, although not as high as pure copper or aluminum.  They are still suitable for applications requiring high conductivity and high-temperature resistance. Resistivity varies with temperature and composition.
